Dr. Ruby E. Powell is the Founder and Executive Director of Oasis Empowerment Zone, Inc. (NFP), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering single mothers through access to resources, tools, education, and transformative opportunities that promote personal and economic advancement.

As a former single mother, Dr. Powell understands firsthand the challenges women face while striving to create successful and sustainable futures. Through Oasis Empowerment Zone, Inc., she provides single mothers with workforce development opportunities, empowerment workshops, low- to no-cost income-based life and business coaching, and networking opportunities designed to support self-sufficiency and long-term success.

A signature initiative of Oasis Empowerment Zone, Inc. is the Y.M.E.N.T.O.R. Program (Young Mothers’ Educational Network for Teaching, Outreach, and Resources). This program provides young mothers ages 12–25 with individualized, strength-based, and outcome-driven mentoring services delivered by trained mentors. Through guidance, support, and intentional connection, participants are equipped with the skills and confidence needed to overcome barriers and reach their personal, educational, and career goals.

Dr. Powell has dedicated more than 35 years of service to supporting children and families impacted by complex social challenges, including abuse, neglect, mental health concerns, substance use disorders, sexual abuse, and domestic violence. Her passion for advocacy, empowerment, and community transformation has shaped her work as a life and business coach, consultant, trainer, and program developer.

As the Founder and CEO of Dr. Ruby E. Powell & Associates, LLC, Dr. Powell specializes in life coaching, business coaching, staff development, program development, curriculum design, professional training, and transformational workshops that equip individuals and organizations to grow, lead, and thrive.

Dr. Powell earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice/Pre-Law from the University of Illinois Chicago, a Master of Science degree in Psychology/Community Counseling and Guidance from Chicago State University, and a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction from the School of Advanced Studies at the University of Phoenix.

Driven by her vision of creating pathways from dreams to reality, Dr. Powell recognizes the importance of connecting individuals and communities with organizations, corporations, and strategic partners that provide access to resources, opportunities, and systems of support.

Her life’s work continues to focus on one mission: creating opportunities, building capacity, and empowering individuals to transform their lives.
